And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. (Revelation 21:10)
The key to the book of Revelation is that we must stand on top of a mountain to look at things in a panoramic and continued fashion: from far to near, from ancient to today.
Simply speaking, what the entire book of Revelation talks about is like a long ram’s horn, consisting of the horn’s main body, tail and tip. These three sections correspond respectively to these terms that we have mentioned earlier: the Millennial Jubilee, the End Stage and the End Point.
In particular, the seven churches in chapters 2 and 3, the seven seals in chapter 6, the two witnesses in chapter 11, the woman in chapter 12 and things in chapter 14 are all associated with the Millennial Jubilee stage.
What chapter 7 talks about plus the First Beast, Second Beast and the Great Harlot are mainly related to things at the End Stage.
The Seven Trumpets, the Seven Bowls and the Lord’s last coming correspond to the End Point.
As for the contents of chapters 20, 21 and 22, they are simply the summary and review of the Millennial Jubilee.
If we have such a framework or “map” in mind for Revelation, then our eyes won’t be blinded and dazzled when we enter into the contents of this book.
All our interpretations will also proceed according to this sequence: the Millennial Jubilee – the End Stage – the End Point – summary and review.
