… “even though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves,” declares the Lord God. (Ezekiel 14:14)
The Bible quotes these three persons, Noah, Daniel and Job, as good examples for us. But it does not mean that they had no shortcomings whatsoever. The Bible shows us that, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can gradually enter the perfection stage by overcoming our weaknesses, shortcomings and failures.
Both Noah and Job are righteous men in God’s sight, yet both of them had weaknesses and failures: Noah once got drunk and Job could not help mouthing complaints when he was tested.
It is possible that God mentions Daniel together with Noah and Job in order to speak silently to us: even though Daniel had also been weak, that did not stop him from becoming a righteous person who in the end pleased God.
The name Daniel means “God is judge”. From the life of Daniel, we not only see what it means to worship the image of the Beast, but by the judgments of God, how to cleanse our heart from all impurities so that we can rest in the presence of God with no regrets.
